Standard IELTS requirement is 6.0โ6.5 overall (no band below 5.5). Some universities accept 5.5 for foundation or pre-sessional routes. Over 60% of Indian applicants qualify for a Medium of Instruction (MOI) letter โ most Indian universities teach in English. PTE Academic UKVI (59โ75) is also widely accepted.
India is a visa national country. UK Student Visa fee: ยฃ558 (from April 2026), plus ยฃ776/year Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS). Standard visa decision: 3โ5 weeks. A TB test from a UKVI-approved clinic is required. Important: since January 2024, only PhD students and government-sponsored students can bring dependants to the UK. Indian bank statements and sponsor letters are accepted as financial evidence.
