Demolition

Site clearance

Clearing plots and sites of rubble, structures and waste.

Overgrown plots, rubble, old foundations or a site full of waste — we clear it so you can build.

Everything that leaves the site goes through a licensed route, with paperwork you can show your client, lender or the council.

What's included

  • Rubble and waste removal
  • Removal of old slabs and foundations
  • Clearing vegetation
  • Muck-away and levelling
  • Waste transfer paperwork

Good to know

  • Under the waste duty of care, whoever produces waste must make sure it is passed to an authorised carrier and disposed of legally.
  • Invasive plants such as Japanese knotweed are controlled waste and need specialist treatment and disposal.

Questions people ask

Do I need permission to demolish a building?

Often not a full planning application, but in most cases the council must be told at least six weeks before (section 80 of the Building Act 1984), and many demolitions need the council's prior-approval check first. Listed buildings and larger buildings in conservation areas need consent. Our free planning checker gives a first answer.

What about asbestos?

Before demolition, a refurbishment and demolition asbestos survey is required by the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. Most asbestos found must be removed by an HSE-licensed contractor before demolition goes ahead.

What happens to the waste?

Materials are separated so more can be recycled, and every load is taken by a registered waste carrier with waste transfer notes you can keep.

Who disconnects the gas, electricity and water?

The utility providers do — we arrange the disconnections before any demolition starts.

Can you demolish just part of a building?

Yes. Partial demolition is done to a structural engineer's sequence, with temporary support where needed, so the rest of the building stays safe.

Where do you work?

Across the UK. Tell us the site postcode when you ask for a quote.
